Gucci Westman Concludes Role At Lancome

Gucci Westman Concludes Role At Lancome
Gucci Westman"s association with Lancôme has come to an end and she will conclude her role as International Artistic Director of Lancôme. Her contributions to the brand have been vast, from her imaginative and creative color collections to the New York Fashion Week program with emerging designers, as well as the bridge she built with the world of Hollywood.

"Gucci Westman has been an elegant and talented ambassador," says President of Lancôme International Odile Roujol. "She has captivated our customers with her beautiful products, fresh ideas and inspired sense of color, and we are very proud of the work we have done together. We wish her much continued success in her life and her career."

"Gucci"s eye for beauty has helped guide Lancôme to the next level in the worlds of fashion and celebrity," adds Lancôme USA President Eric Lauzat. "We are grateful for all she"s done to elevate our brand with her ability, instinct and grace."

Says Gucci Westman, "My time with Lancôme has been wonderful. It was an incredible learning experience being with a brand of this caliber, and I"d like to thank the Lancôme team for the opportunities and friendship they extended to me."

Ms. Westman joined the brand in 2003 and her first color collection, French Riviera, debuted in Spring 2005. During her time with Lancôme, she created eight color collections. Her final two collaborations are the Spring 2008 L.U.C.I. Color Collection and the Thakoon Pout-á-Porter lipstick.

A New First Lady, Glowing Like Sunshine

Tuesday in the nation’s capital. During this historic day, the question millions have been waiting for will finally be answered. Yeah, yeah, yeah - Barack Obama will be sworn in as the nations’s 44th president. History, hope, and change. Now where is MICHELLE and what is she WEARING?

And just moments ago, there she was — resplendent in yellow, glittering in a Isabel Toledo ensemble. Do you love it, or do you love it?

** edited at 9:30 a.m. January 21 — for the evening inaugural ball, Michelle wore a stunning one-shouldered gown by Jason Wu.

Barack appeared as taken with it as fans of Mrs. O are — look at how lovingly he gazed at her during their first dance at the inaugural neighborhood ball. And Beyonce? You killed it. The joy is so evident in your face as you sang. What a moment. What a day!

WPvideo 1.10 Here’s to a new first lady setting the fashion standard in Washington DC!

Do you speak Elgydium?

Do you speak Elgydium?
It’s said that we all put our pants on one leg at a time.  But it’s not every day you get to brush your teeth as the French, or is it?

We’ve been gifted this new year with the ultimate oral care indulgence.  Elgydium.  The name that is synonymous with fine European oral care will not only make your smile beautiful but healthier.

The brand is well known to the jet set crowd and beauty elite, now it’s readily available to those in the know like you.

One of the most important aspects of any toothpaste is the taste. This is not a super minty in your face type of toothpaste, it’s bland which I bet will throw a lot of people off.  As with any new toothpaste there is a transition period but I can tell you the pay off is worth it!  My teeth feel cleaner and I can drink orange juice almost immediately if I chose to!  Here are the two toothpastes you have to chose from…

  • ELGYDIUM Whitening Toothpaste - contains Micro-Pulverized Sodium Bicarbonate, a unique formula that penetrates even in the smallest enamel grooves for extra-gentle and in-depth cleansing
  • ELGYDIUM Anti-Cavity Toothpaste - contains a very high-grade fluoride.  This product has shown in U.S. clinical trials to meet and exceed all FDA requirements for cavity protection, while
still delivering the well-known taste and texture.
The brand has been around since 1972 and there’s a good reason, the texture! it’s amazing.  If you are sensitive to textures in your mouth you must try Elgydium.  These are by far the finest toothpastes I’ve ever knowingly used.  I also love the packaging: discrete silver tubes, very chic.

It’s very exciting to have products like Elgydium available CVS once again is bringing the beauty to the neighborhood!

Shadow Lamp
Shadow Lamp.Shadow Lamp is interesting, beautiful and a functional lamp by Kaman Tung which shows how a design can be kept simple and minimal and yet it looks great. Its basic function is to provide light source but it also creates a visual decoration when it"s turned on.

Flow Gets Drowned Out

Flow Gets Drowned Out
Like too many fish in a tank, it looks like three was overcapacity for the mani+pedi cluster at Queen and Tecumseth.

In the past few years the intersection has gone from no options to too many. Within 20 paces of each other was Aliviar, The Ten Spot, and Flow (that"s not even counting B.Skin, Elixir and Pure+Simple down at King). The pressure to attend to your cuticles was a bit intense.

Shortly after they all opened a few years ago, I wondered how long and who would last. It seems that Flow, formerly of 753 Queen Street West, is the first casualty. Which is not that surprising. While the window and entry displays were always clean and crisp, I could probably count on one hand the number of people I ever saw going in. It was far, far too quiet.

Their windows are papered over and there is a "For Rent" sign on the glass. There is no notice posted that they"re relocating elsewhere.

French Kissing 2009 Hello

French Kissing 2009 Hello
(Product information) Natalie met her best friend Ginger in a cocktail bar, where they drank Singapore Slings & gave fake names to well-dressed boys. They held hands all the way home & took polaroids of each other making silly faces before falling asleep on Ginger’s couch at 5am.

(Product information) Lolly took the subway to the house of a friend of a friend, where she caught the eye of a Swedish exchange student. After a couple of hours of funny but confusing conversation, he kissed her on the fire escape. She was so surprised she almost choked on her gum.

(Product information) With her friends waiting outside, Carmen kissed her parents goodbye & stole her father’s hat from the hallway before closing the door behind her. When her best friend’s digital watch displayed 12:00, the five of them were sitting in a tiny boat on a super-still lake. Carmen let a flare gun off into the night & laughed, before using a voice-transforming megaphone to lead all her friends in a T-Pain singalong.

She make the people say yeeeeah, yeeeeeeeah… I can put you in a log cabin, somewhere in Aspen!
(Product information) Robin would totally have preferred to stay in with a tub of Haagen-Dazs. The crowds & the noise were too much for her. Instead she went to her boyfriend’s place, avoided his drunken workmates & brandished her camera like a weapon.

(Product information) Katie kicked it at home with a stack of her favourite records & a new pair of headphones. She fell asleep at 11.42pm, woke up the next morning & continued life as usual.

(Product information) Zara went to a loud punk rock show with her almost-boyfriend. They rang in the new year by jumping up & down, screaming & yelling, writhing beside an amp, covered in sweat & sexual tension. She had worn a big bat signal over her heart to keep it safe, but it didn’t work. By the time the sun rose, her head was full of stars & bursting cartoon love-hearts.

What are you going to wear on the 31st?

P.S. Here are some new year’s eve outfits I made last year!

Marc by Marc Jacobs Softy Jorie in Denim

Marc by Marc Jacobs Softy Jorie in Denim
Marc by Marc Jacobs Softy Jorie in Denim
First and foremost, Marc Jacobs has come out with some bags in denim for his Marc by Marc Jacobs and they are absolutely beautiful with a mix of stunning. Second, my favorite of the denim Marc by Marc Jacobs handbags is the Softy Jorie and it is simply gorgeous! The Softy Jorie looks like it is more of a satchel but I’m sure it could also be worn on the shoulder. My favorite part of the handbag is that is has a large pocket on the front and back of the handbag with a hidden magnetic closure. Some other features of the Marc by Marc Jacobs Softy Jorie is that it has: a zipped front pocket, coblat blue star-print lining, a flat leather base, and has a rectangular leather patch with “Marc by Marc Jacobs” etched on it. Only downfall about this handbag is that is does seem a bit small with it being 13″x 8″x 4.5″, but no one can deny that the Marc by Marc Jacobs Softy Jorie is a beauty!

The Marc by Marc Jacobs Softy Jorie is available at eLUXURY for $368, which is not bad at all for a beautiful handbag. This handbag would be perfect for Spring, and if you want one I suggest you grab one quick because I’m sure it won’t be around long.
