Watermelon Knife

Watermelon Knife
It's easy to cut a big watermelon when you have the right knife. used by food service professionals. Easy to sharpen high carbon stainless blade is 12" long. Made in the uSA. usually, when a cutting job is difficult, it is because you're not using the correct tool.

Try to cut up a watermelon with a knife that is too small and you end up with wet, sticky hand and a butchered watermelon. That's why food service professionals and watermelon "aficionado's" use this knife. The high carbon stainless steel blade is 12" long and 1.75" wide. The rosewood handle is extra wide for a good grip.........

How to Photograph Fireworks

How to Photograph Fireworks
Fireworks are something that evoke a lot of emotion in people as they are not only beautiful and spectacular to watch but they also are often used to celebrate momentous occasions.

I've had many emails from readers asking how to photograph fireworks, quite a few of whom have expressed concern that they might just be too hard to really photograph. My response is always the same - 'give it a go - you might be surprised at what you end up with'.

My reason for this advice is that back when I bought my first ever SLR (a film one) one of the first things I photographed was fireworks and I was amazed by how easy it was and how spectacular the results were.........

Stealth Bomb Cellulite Jeans

Stealth Bomb Cellulite Jeans
Oh My..... In November 2005, we reported on a new technology, Sensory Perception- Technology that uses a micro-encapsulation delivery system for textiles that allows fragrances or active ingredients of almost any kind to be chemically trapped inside and then released from clothing, bedding, towels or other textiles over an extended period of time.

Yesterday, someone pointed out a novel use of this new technology aimed directly at the cellulite crowd. Some clever marketing type decided to put tiny amounts of retinol (a derivative of vitamin A) and chitosan (from shellfish) into the micro-capsules that are then embedded into a pair of jeans. They call this stealth bomb cocktail "skintex" and the combination of retinol and chitosan are supposed to stimulate collagen production and reduce fat. The micro-capsules are very tiny, too small to be seen when embedded into the jeans. When these stealth bomb jeans are worn, body heat and heat from the sun and surroundings will slowly cause the micro-capsules to break open and release their anti-cellulite chemicals to be absorbed by the wearer's skin. The manufacturers claim that a pair of their jeans will effectively deliver their stealth bomb payloads for 30 to 50 washings and the more you wear them the better for your baggy booty and lunar thighs.........

Kooba Ada

Kooba Ada
might as well just take out a giant loan and buy one of each bag at Kooba so I can stop obsessing.

The latest is the lovely Ada which won me over with its simple design and studded ornaments. This bag could be worn to dress up some jeans or with a more formal pant suit to make the outfit more slouchy and casual.

The key to this bag really is in the studs. I think without them the bag still would be very nice, but would be a bit boring and unpredictable. But once the studs are on, this bag stands out in a crowd.

This bag would also make a good commuting bag thanks to it large size and depth. The two side pockets would hold your Metro cards and some lip gloss. Could this be the perfect bag? Quite possible!........

Construction Worker Fashion

Construction Worker Fashion
Metropolis recently wrote about the various underground construction projects happening in Tokyo, including the 47km Central Circular Route city bypass. It was a fascinating article. But what was really interesting was a factoid they just glossed over:

To promote the project, a fashion show was put on for the media, 30m underground, showing off construction-worker-inspired designs by German Bernard Willhelm. This is quite old news, the show happened in Octber 2005, but honestly.....where else but Japan?

Actual construction workers paraded the clothes down the 'runway' - the actual tunnel they were building. Mannequins were set up to show the designs for later shows. Maybe the workers went on strike?

After seeing that image, I wouldn't be surprised.........

Laser Hair Removal Campaign

Laser Hair Removal Campaign
Distancing itself from the more barbaric forms of hair removal, Priciderm, with help from its Quebec ad agency Carte Blance, has launched an S & M themed campaign to promote its seemingly less painful laser hair removal process.

Two of the ads use the queasiness of S&M to illustrate hair removal doesn't have to be a painful ordeal. A third execution, gets right to the point with blood in the sink. See the others two ads here and here.........

Fruity Home Appliances

Fruity Home Appliances
Ahh! I love the smell of lemon zest cleanliness in a kitchen, and, eh, the look of strawberries on my fridge. These panels from Vincon instantly transform the dullest of kitchens into a walk-in fruit bowl. The range consists of apples, oranges, lemons, strawberries, coffee beans and more bizarrely, broken eggs. The flexible sheets are thin enough to be cut with scissors to allow for variations in appliances, and are easily interchangeable due to their magnetic nature.

The designs were produced using "high quality digital printing", and only 100% organic fruit was used in the photographs. Ok, I made that last part up - I thought it might make you feel better about yourself if you bought one.........

Hang Them to Dry

Hang Them to Dry
You hang your clothes on a laundry pole after washing.....sun dries your car once you wash it.but what about your shoes and sandals? One cannot hang them anywhere.

However, if sandals are somewhat like these Hook sandals, I do not think there's gonna be any hassle drying them too. These come with a highly functional hook that helps them hang on the laundry pole after washing.

The Hook sandals are available in many funky colors to add variety to your laundry pole.....ooops! to your footwear collection.........

London Underground Fashion Victims

Fashion Victims on the Tube

Here's this week's look at people who could be seen as slaves to fashion or have a particular fashion "style" that they've made their own. Again we've had unseasonably bad weather in London, and a mixture of people wearing wintery hats, sandals, anoraks and T shirts.

OHMIGOD It's Kenny's Sister Again

You might remember Kenny's Sister from some time ago

OHMIGOD They've snapped Kenny's Sister on the London Underground

Well I'm pretty certain this is Kenny's other sister with her hood up even though she was under cover at Hammersmith.

Kenny's Sister Again

I had to blur the background a bit as there were too many people standing behind her for you to see the sleeveless hooded anorak, which looks remarkably to the one the first woman was wearing.

Leopard Skin Trimmed Uggs

Ah it's about time we had an Ugg style boot again. It's hard to see here but they were trimmed with a sort of Leopard Skin fur.

Leopard Skin Uggs

With a designer looking carrier, drainpipe jeans and distressed hair she looks very "footballer's wife/girlfriend".

Studded Metallic Bag

Just when you thought I hadn't spotted any metallic bags for a while. Well, I have, loads of them in fact. I was hoping they would die out but they are still here. This one merited blogging though as it as those little eyelet holes in them, so that the bag can breathe more easily I presume!

Studded Metallic Bag

This bag was nestling on the lap of a woman in her late fifties, so you would have thought she might have been a tad too old to be swayed by the metallic bag trend. Sadly not.

Hats with badges

As Mags rightly noted in the comments on last week's fashion victims, I'm not a great fan of badges. Well I'm not a fan of badges that are worn on bags or hats. If you're going to wear a badge, why not wear it on your lapel or on your clothes?

Badge on cap

Here we have a button badge on a Fidel Castro style cap.

Below him is what I can only describe as a flowery felt fez

Saxophone on hat

Very "unusual" hat with the addition of a little saxophone badge/brooch which almost got lost amongst the vibrant flowers.
