Sleep Deprivation Doubles Risks Of Obesity

You might be too busy to find time to sleep, but lack of sleep could lead to overweight and obesity. New research from Warwick Medical School at the University of Warwick has found that sleep deprivation is linked to an almost a two-fold increased risk of being obese for both children and adults.

Uk History Does The 60s

I never pay much attention to UK History - a bit too much World At War and ancient Rome for my liking - but starting next week, that changes - if only for a short time.

The channel is going big on the 60s. Slipped into the schedules at various points from next week (W/C 10th July) are the BBC's Fame, Fashion and Photography documentaries (including The Real Blow Up), along with a less-interesting programme on the Beatles.

Retro Tea Towel bag

Here's something that looks very "now", but is actually made from a vintage cloth. The Tea Towel bag is a rather hip-looking handbag from mandy b. bags, made from genuine vintage 100% linen tea towel.

This the sort of saturation advertising I'm exposed to driving around town. Maybe I'm more sensitive to it given the nature of my job. Personally, I find this particular image cheap and sleazy. No class.

So by now, everyone has likely already heard tradetricks.org's suggestion to use baking soda as a cheap and natural exfoliant. I've been using it every day for a week -- just enough water to make a paste once a week, then diluted down quite a bit for gentler daily use -- and I can affirm that I can definitely see a big difference in blackheads and overall evenness and tone. Construction Worker Fashion

Metropolis recently wrote about the various underground construction projects happening in Tokyo, including the 47km Central Circular Route city bypass. It was a fascinating article. But what was really interesting was a factoid they just glossed over:

Women At Risk From Working Long Hours

Long hours of work may be more worrisome for women compared to men. Women who work long hours are more likely than men to indulge in unhealthy behaviours such as snacking, smoking and drinking caffeine. Preserve That Manicure

Guilt Cloth

The theme of my entry is guilt ~sigh~. This first piece is a purse made by Victoria Horner, one of "my" DEs. It was made from an antique kimono.

Cole Haan Large drawstring

Apparently Japanese denim is the best in the world. I can't say, personally. As far as I can tell, Japanese denim is just the most expensive in the world.

Still, I'd be willing to fork over nice money for a pair of these. Japanese blogger Takuronyan did a little bit of home-made printing. Mario is on the back pocket and King Koopa is on the leg.
